Endoscopy Camp
From October, 28th until November, 5th 2024, the gastroenterologist Prof. Dr. Markus Menges from Germany visited our hospital for consultation and treatment of patients as well as training for our local doctors in the areas of gastroenterology with a special focus on endoscopy.
Prof. Dr. Markus Menges has also managed to launch a project with Gastroenterology Foundation, which is supported generously by Else Kröner Fresenius Foundation.
This has enabled us to procure various materials for our endoscopy department and to train one of our MD`s for specialization in gastroenterology.
During the camp, 53 patients came for counselling by the gastroenterologist and 55 patients for endoscopy procedures. These included diagnostic gastroscopy (44 patients) and colonoscopy (5 patients), as well as interventions like banding of oesophageal varices (1 patient), clipping of bleeding gastric ulcer (1 patient), polypectomy (1 patient) and foreign body removal ( 2 patients). All procedures were done by the gastroenterologist in cooperation with our local endoscopy team.
