Gynaecology and Obstetrics

Obstetrics and gynecology department is one of the major departments of our hospital. It is an important department that deals with reproductive health of women and some cases of men with fertility problems.

The department currents is served by a total of 39 self-motivated and hardworking health care providers of different cadres as follows:

  • 1 medical specialist (Obstetrician and gynecologist)
  • 1 medical doctor (MD-registrar)
  • 3 medical doctors (MD- Intern doctors)
  • 17 registered nurses
  • 13 enrolled nurses
  • 4 medical attendants.

The department provides outpatient, inpatient and surgical services.

Outpatient services

The department conducts the outpatient services on 5 working days per week. Services include Reproductive and Child Health Clinic (RCH), cervical cancer screening and patients with general gynecological conditions including fertility problems.

Inpatient services

Inpatient services include labour and deliveries cervices, antenatal care to those with pregnancy complications for care and delivery planning and post-natal care. All women after delivery are kept in postnatal ward for 24hours for close monitoring.

Surgical services

Obstetrics and gynecological surgical services are provided daily, including emergency and elective cases. Emergency surgical cases provided any time every day, while the elective cases are operated on 4 days a week.
