About 100 patients per day report to our radiology and imaging department. CT scans and X-rays are taken by one radiographer, assisted by one Clinical Officer. The CT scan images are read and interpreted remotely by a radiographer in Dar Es Salaam. Two sonographers who underwent a three-month course at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) perform ultrasound investigations. Echocardiography is done by Medical Doctors (MD), who went for training at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH).
We use a modern 32-slice-CT scan machine (SOMATOM go.Now), two x-ray machines, and one Digitalflat panel detector for image transformation. Two high-end ultrasound machines (ACUSON NX 2 and NX 3 Elite) are used for echocardiography and
ultrasound investigations. Ultrasound (US) is done for abdominal organs, pelvic, obstetric, urological, doppler, thyroid, breast, and other small parts USS.
