On the occasion of the feast day of our hospital patron saint, we decided to benefit the surrounding community by introducing St. Benedict Health Week this year. The one-week event started on July 7 th until July 12 th , 2024, with the theme “Better Health, Happy Life”. During St. Benedict Health Week, we provided free health services to the public, including screenings, treatments, and specialized services. We operated across nine departments: internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery with ENT, orthopedics, ophthalmology, nutrition, obstetrics and Gynecology, laboratory, and pharmacy.
St. Benedict Health Week had a significant impact, with 2,114 patients (1,600 female, 514 male) being screened and treated free of charge. Common cases included hypertension, anemia, diabetes mellitus, urinary tract infections, malaria, and HIV. Pediatric cases comprised anemia, malaria, urinary tract infections, respiratory diseases, and others. Conditions such as hernia, prostate problems, back pain, and hearing impairment were attended by our Surgical, Orthopedics & ENT departments. Pelvic inflammatory disease and other ob-gyn issues were treated by our gynecologist.
The visual acuity (refraction) of numerous participants was determined and some patients underwent cataract surgery. Caries and other dental problems were professionally treated by our dentist. 1443 clients were counseled by our nutritionist about obesity, malnutrition, and other diet-related diseases. The campaign week was made possible by local sponsors and suppliers of our hospital. We express our profound gratitude for the selfless and generous support that signified a true meaning of humanity and brought healing and hope to so many lives.
