Thanks to the partnership between the districts of Landsberg am Lech (Germany) and Newala, we were able to host a transformative disabilities project. The project focused on supporting people of Newala District with disabilities by providing 33 mobility aids, including wheelchairs, tricycles, crutches, and white canes. Hand-over was done during an event on 10/12/2024 at Newala. The event served as a platform to raise community awareness about disability needs, promoting inclusion and independence for individuals with disabilities.
The event directly supported 33 beneficiaries while drawing a total attendance of 312, including family members and caregivers. Attendees also benefited from health screenings for hemoglobin and blood sugar levels, as well as nutritional counselling. Presided over by the Newala District Commissioner, it highlighted the significance of partnerships in addressing local challenges. St. Benedict Hospital remains committed to scaling up such initiatives by strengthening donor collaborations, empowering individuals through economic programs, and advocating for community sensitization to reduce stigma and foster inclusion.
