New Ambulance

On May 12, 2026, our hospital received a new ambulance for transporting our patients—a significant milestone in improving patient care. Previously, we only had one ambulance, which was inadequately equipped. When two patients needed to be transported simultaneously, this resulted in delays.
This ambulance was generously donated by the Priory of Schuyler/USA, a dependent house of Münsterschwarzach Abbey.

In 2025, 1,659 patients were referred to us from other healthcare facilities, and 492 patients were referred by us to other hospitals—mostly to the national Muhimbili Hospital in Dar es Salaam. 117 of these patients required ambulance transport. Due to the long travel time (one way > 8 hours), the ambulance was in transit for at least two days per patient. The second ambulance will prevent these delays and, at the same time, allow for emergency care of critically ill patients during transport, including ECG monitoring, administration of IV fluids, etc..
We thank the Schuyler community for their generous support of this important project.
