Outreach for Children
Thanks to a generous donation of one of our benefactors, we are able to realize the project “Outreach for Children”. Once per week, our paediatrician is visiting one of five dispensaries and health centers in Masasi and surrounding districts. In between the visits, children are prescreened and scheduled for the next appointment of the specialist by the clinicians of the respective facilitiy.
On average, 12-15 children report for consultation per visit of the specialist; sometimes up to 30. They present with different medical conditions like heart problems, renal diseases, anaemia, malnutrition, epilepsy, congenital malformations and syndromes, just to name a few.
Our hospital is providing the service for free for the dispensaries and health centres. The parents of the children have to pay the fees of the respective facility only, which means free consultation for children < 5 years and about 2 € for consultation of children > 5 years of age.
